Framed Heart Photo Wall Collage

Create wall art in an instant with modular Fotobit frames. They can be arranged any way you like and include all the hardware you been to hang them!

Our bedroom has been the last room in house to get any art on the walls. It’s been the last space on my list to unpack and get settled, probably because only Kevin and I see it. So in effort to make it feel less like we just moved in (because hey, we’re been California residents officially for a little more than 3 months!) I finally got around to hanging some art on the walls.

We opted to sell our large bed frame before we moved and I’m sure glad we did because it would not have fit in our new, much smaller, bedroom. We replaced it with a simple metal bed frame which I later plan on making a headboard for. But for the time being, the room still was looking pretty sparse so I decided to create a fun photo wall in the shape of a heart. I gathered some of my favorite snapshots and ordered 4″ x 4″ art photo prints on Snapbox. Then I used their really cool, modular white Fotobit frames to easily bring my vision to life!

The Fotobit frames made this project a piece of cake—really! They are tiny ABS plastic frames that include everything you need to hang them (minus a hammer). They seriously thought about everything when making these because they even have a space to clip in a mini level, which comes with the frames. They can be hung individually or attached in any arrangement using the provided clips and displayed in groups.

  1. Remove the Fotobit frames from the box and peel off the protective coating on either side of the plexiglass. Unsnap each frame into 3 parts. Place the plexiglass inside the frame front, and set the mat on top.
  2. Snap in the back of the frame by gently squeezing it so the pins on the left and right sides snap into place.
  3. To assemble each frame, just snap the front panel onto the back panel. If you are connecting multiple frames, use the clips that are included with the frames to connect them and then snap the frame front onto the base.

I first planned my design on the computer to determine how to arrange the frames to create the heart shape. I used 49 frames to create a 3′ wide photo heart. Then I used the included clips to connect the frame backs. I divided the heart into 3 sections before hanging it on the wall (a left side, a right side, and bottom). The frames come with both foam adhesive stickers and nails but I opted to use the nails because that would be the easiest to repair since we’re renting our home.

Each frame back includes a spot to place the nail, so all you have to do is insert the nail in the hole and hammer it into place. I used a total of 4 nails on the top row only and this thing is really secure! If you wanted you could also add one more nail to the bottom frame for extra security.

How would you arrange Fotobit frames? I’d love to hear your ideas!
