DIY State Heart Art

Show a little love for your home state and learn how to make your own state art!

Last week at Meet + Make we created Valentine’s Day inspired art. Below are the three examples I created but you need to watch the video to see what everyone else created. Everyone blew me away with their creativity. I just loved how unique each canvas is and how everyone put their own spin on the design. Since the Florida silhouette with the heart was the most popular shape, I made a video tutorial to show you how it’s done.

You can download the Florida silhouette and the large heart templates here.

I used this 1″ heart paper punch to create the smaller hearts shown on the canvases on the left and right.

If you don’t live in Florida you can search the web for your state’s silhouette and print it out and use it as a template.

The ombre mini hearts were created using paint swatches I picked up at Home Depot. You can also use colored card stock to create a similar effect. Just use the heart punch to cut the shapes and adhere it to the canvas using the double-sided foam stickers.
