I believe you can never have too many throw pillows. Though I know Kevin has a different opinion about this matter. But personally, I love the look of a couch loaded with bold patterned pillows. More is more!

After creating my own fabric and making some pillows for our couch, I decided to add another one to the mix. This one starts with a basic pillow cover and can be made in less than 15 minutes. Watch the video below to see just how easy it is to do!

DIY Gold Stud Throw Pillow

Supplies

pillow cover / pillow insert / hot-fix flat brass studs / ruler / iron

Directions

  1. Place the pillow cover flat on a table or ironing board. Press it with a warm iron to remove any creases.
  2. Work on half of the pillow at a time and arrange the brass studs with the glue side down on the pillow. Use a ruler to straighten the rows.
  3. Lightly press one row at a time with a warm iron for 10 seconds. Repeat until all the brass studs are adhered. If you press too hard the glue will bleed.
  4. Continue arranging the brass tacks on the other half of the pillow cover. Use the ruler to straighten the rows and iron until they are all adhered. Let it cool for a minute and then place the pillow insert inside.

Note

I used 36 brass studs (6 x 6 rows) on an 18″ x 18″ pillow cover. If you want the rows to be tighter, arrange them 7 x 7 or even 8 x 8.
