Sarah Hearts

Sarah Hearts

hi, I'm Sarah and i'm so happy you're here

mama

maker

color lover

Hi! I’m Sarah Rivero Khandjian, but all my friends call me Sarah Hearts.

I’m the daughter of a print expert and graphic designer, and have always had a love for art, design and all things crafty. Though raised in Miami, my interests led me to Tallahassee, where I further developed my skills at Florida State University. While there, I developed an affinity for color theory, print making, and Adobe Illustrator (particularly the pen tool). I graduated summa cum laude and with a BFA in graphic design.

I started Sarah Hearts in 2006 with a line of handmade bags and screen printed apparel. I sold my items in the student union, online, and at indie craft fairs to help supplement my meager college income. A couple years later, I married my love, Kevin. We had a simple, handmade wedding where I not only hand screen printed our stationery but also made all the decorations for the wedding. I started blogging that summer to document and share all of my handmade wedding creations with my out-of-town family and friends. This led me to also begin sharing other projects I created and things I found inspiring. After lots of hard work, not much sleep, and over a 1,000 posts, this little blog has grown into my full-time job.

In September 2015, I relocated from Winter Park, Florida all the way to Los Angeles, CA with my husband, Kevin and our hound dog, Daisy. Justin, my horse, moved out a few months later. And in June 2018 we welcomed our little June Willow into the family. And in the beginning of 2021 we decided we were due for another adventure and packed up and moved across the country—again. This time we’re up in the mountains near beautiful Asheville, North Carolina, a place I grew up spending my summers.

The Fine Print

All images, layouts, and color palettes are created and photographed by myself, unless otherwise stated. I absolutely love when you enjoy my work enough to share it! Please be courteous and credit Sarah Hearts with a link back to the original post when sharing. If you are sharing my content on social media, or used my tutorials to create your own project, please use the hashtag #sarahhearts.

Sometimes I use affiliate links when linking to items, where I earn a small commission from the sale. I also occasionally partner with brands that I love to create sponsored content. All sponsored posts are clearly stated as such and all thoughts and opinions about the product and/or service are my own.
