Every couple of weeks some friends and I have a movie night. Last night I decided to try out a recipe that I saw in the current issue of The Nest. For those of you unfamiliar with this mag, it’s produced by The Knot and is for newly weds. It’s packed with tons of info on decorating, cooking, relationships and more. Several people replied to my tweet last night asking for the recipe, so here you go!

You will need:
• 12 mini phyllo pastry shells, thawed
• 2 large ripe avocados, peeled and seeded
• 1 Roma tomoato, diced
• Juice of 1 lime
• 1 jalepeño pepper, seeded and minced
• ¼ cup fresh cilantro leaves, chopped
• 1½ tsp. kosher salt, divided
• 1 tbl. olive oil
• ½ tsp. freshly ground black pepper
• 12 shrimp, peeled, tails on, deveined (I got 15 because the ready-made phyllo I bought came with 15 shells)
• 12 (or 15 if you have 15 shells) cilantro leaves
• 3 grape tomatoes, quartered
•Coarse salt, for garnish

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Place pastry shells on baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Bake 5 minutes; transfer to a platter.
2. Meanwhile, combine avocado, tomato, lime juice, jalepeño pepper, cilantro and 1 tsp. salt in medium bowl.
3. Preheat oven to 450°F. Whisk olive oil, remaining ½ tsp. salt and pepper. Add shrimp and toss to coat.
4. Spoon 1 Tbl. guacamole into each phyllo cup. Stand a shrimp in each cup and garnish with cilantro leaves, tomato, and coarse salt. Yum.

Twigs and Honey

I have long admired the beautiful work of Twigs and Honey, so I knew as soon as we were engaged that I would use them. I commissioned the talented Myra Callan to make my veil, bridal hairpiece, bridesmaid broaches, groomsmen and father boutonnieres, and wrist corsages for our moms and grandmothers. The process was quite simple, I just told Myra my wedding colors and gave her examples of the pieces I liked and she created grogeous pieces for our wedding that we will cherish forever. I highly recommend using Twigs and Honey. I love the idea of having something totally unique for your wedding that you can keep forever, as opposed to the traditional boutonniere which only lasts a few days.At the last minute I decided to not wear a veil. I wanted to keep my accessories simple. I am selling my beautiful, never-worn blusher veil. I will have more info in the next post.

Divine Light Wedding Photography

I have had so many brides-to-be ask about the vendors we used for our wedding so I am going to review each one. I wanted to start with our favorite vendor, Divine Light Wedding Photography. They are based out of Tampa, Florida, but they will travel wherever you are. I found them through a friend from art school who used them for her e-shoot. We booked them for our e-shoot and our wedding. Their work is just stunning. Brian and Briana Elledge are laid-back and easy going people and just a pleasure to work with! It’s really important for you to be comfortable with your photographers since they are going to be right beside you on your big day. I definitely recommend Divine Light Photo and would love for them to capture other events in our life. Below are some of my favorites from our e-shoot.
